A working fishing port on the south side of Grays Harbor, with a marina and a charter fleet. In sight of Ocean Shores across the harbour mouth, and a long way round by road.

Razor Clam Areas
The coast is divided into separate management areas. WDFW opens and closes each one on its own schedule, so a dig announced for one beach may not include the beach you are staying on.

South to north: Westport and Grayland are Twin Harbors. Ocean Shores is Copalis. Pacific Beach and Moclips are Mocrocks. Copalis Beach sits at the boundary between Copalis and Mocrocks, so check the specific address.
The Copalis River. Copalis runs from the north jetty at the mouth of Grays Harbor up to the river; Mocrocks runs from the river north to the southern boundary of the Quinault Indian Reservation. They are opened and closed separately, so the river is a real dividing line rather than a formality.
Per person per day, across all open beaches together. Digging fifteen on one beach and driving to another for fifteen more is not allowed.
Yes. Every digger keeps the first fifteen they dig, whatever the size or condition. You cannot throw back a small one and keep digging for a better one.
Yes, from age sixteen. The 2026-27 licence runs from 1 April 2026 through 31 March 2027, so a licence bought for a spring dig covers the following autumn and winter as well.
In early autumn, on WDFW's razor clam page. Dates are approved in batches through the season rather than published as one calendar, and each dig is confirmed only after marine toxin testing clears. Check WDFW rather than any travel site, including this one.
No. Some stretches are open to vehicles all year, some only in certain seasons, and some are closed to vehicles entirely. The speed limit where driving is allowed is 25 mph, and the beach is legally a state highway, so ordinary road law applies. Check the specific stretch.
The maintained public approaches to the Copalis beach are 2nd Street in Ocean City, the end of Highway 115 at Oyhut, and Chance A La Mer, Pacific Avenue, Ocean Lake Way and Tarus Street in Ocean Shores. Do not park on the approaches themselves.
Not at present. Kalaloch, north of our stretch on the Olympic Peninsula, is closed to razor clam harvesting.
No. There is no bridge across the mouth of Grays Harbor. By road the two are a long way apart, inland and back out again through Aberdeen and Hoquiam, despite being in sight of one another.
